Jeffrey K. Stanton

Jeffrey K. Stanton is a shareholder at Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C., where his practice focuses on serious personal injury litigation and complex insurance disputes. He represents individuals who have suffered catastrophic and life-altering injuries, as well as policyholders in uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, insurance coverage disputes, and insurance bad faith litigation.

In addition to his personal injury practice, Mr. Stanton is a member of HGSK’s Insurance Coverage Team, where he has developed a particular concentration in matters involving the rights of policyholders and the obligations of insurance companies. His insurance practice includes disputes concerning the interpretation and application of insurance policies, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, claims-handling practices, and insurance bad faith. He also handles declaratory judgment actions, appeals, and class actions addressing automobile insurance coverage, policy forms, and the rights of insureds under Pennsylvania law.

Mr. Stanton’s recent representative results include a $4.02 million jury verdict in a wrongful death and survival action, a settlement exceeding $3 million for an individual injured in a motor vehicle collision, and a $4.5 million settlement in a federal underinsured motorist and insurance bad faith action, along with numerous other confidential seven-figure settlements. Among his other recent results, Mr. Stanton and HGSK’s Insurance Coverage Team obtained a class action settlement exceeding $12.6 million for Pennsylvania automobile insurance policyholders in a dispute involving uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage and stacking rights.

Whether representing an individual who has suffered a serious injury or a policyholder in a complex insurance dispute, Mr. Stanton emphasizes careful preparation and a hands-on approach to each matter. He works closely with his clients and remains personally involved throughout the matter, from the initial investigation and evaluation of a claim through settlement, trial, and appeal.

Mr. Stanton is active in the Pennsylvania legal community through his professional leadership, writing, and continuing legal education. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, where he is Co-Chair of the Insurance Bad Faith Section and a member of the Amicus Curiae Committee. He frequently lectures on insurance bad faith, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, claims handling, and other insurance and litigation issues, and has presented programs for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Federal Bar Association, county bar associations, and other legal organizations.

Mr. Stanton is also a frequent author on insurance law. His articles have appeared in The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Association for Justice publications, addressing topics including insurance bad faith, an insurer’s duty to investigate, excess-verdict liability, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, automobile policy exclusions, and Pennsylvania’s Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law.

Mr. Stanton was selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list in 2026, following seven consecutive years of recognition on the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list from 2018 through 2024.

Before joining HGSK, Mr. Stanton served as an attorney with the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of General Counsel, representing and advising the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Chad F. Kenney of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas.

Mr. Stanton earned his law degree, cum laude, from Drexel University School of Law, where he served as an Executive Board Member of the Moot Court Board and as a teaching assistant in the Trial Advocacy Program. During law school, he also interned for the Honorable Anne E. Lazarus during her service on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. Mr. Stanton received his undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University.

Mr. Stanton regularly represents clients in trial and appellate matters in state and federal court. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
