Throughout her legal career, Attorney Julianna Merback Burdo has won millions
of dollars in verdicts and settlements for injured individuals. Her areas
of focus include medical negligence or malpractice and catastrophic injuries.
A skilled litigator, she has successfully held medical professionals throughout
the state accountable for their negligence. Her meticulous attention to
detail has allowed her to handle complex cases, such as those involving
birth injuries, in a comprehensive manner.
Among her many impressive case results is a seven-figure settlement that
she secured for an 11-year-old girl who died from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy
while under home nursing care. Another case that yielded a confidential
seven-figure settlement involved a woman who sustained permanent facial
burns from an Operating Room Fire. Other seven-figure results include
cases involving dental malpractice, delayed recognition of compartment
syndrome following knee replacement, stillborn baby/delayed c-section,
and others. Julie has achieved near seven/high six-figure settlements
in other medical and general negligence cases involving failure to warn
of undisclosed food allergen resulting in anaphylactic shock, suicide
cases, delayed recognition of Steven’s Johnson Syndrome, delayed
recognition of Melanoma, fall down cases in a Garden Center and numerous
defective step cases, and a young man whose hand was impaled by a hydraulic
jack on a job site. Her many million-dollar results earned her membership
into the prestigious Million Dollar Advocates Forum®. Beyond compensation,
Julianna has forced businesses and health care facilities to change their
internal practices. She is the Chair of the medical malpractice and catastrophic
injury department at the Firm, and plays an integral role on our legal
team at Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C. She has tried
dozens of cases to verdict in Pennsylvania State and Federal Court, New
Jersey State and Federal Court, and (pro hac vice) in Illinois State Court.
Julianna has been invited to lecture to members of the Philadelphia Bar
Association on topics such as How to Evaluate and Make Decisions in Handling
Your Medical Negligence Cases, and the Use of Surveillance in Pennsylvania.
She has been featured in the cover page/story of Suburban Life magazine,
and has numerous publications in The Legal Intelligencer on topics including
Informed Consent and the importance of Mentorship.
