Our HGSK family was saddened to learn of the passing of A. Harold Datz,
one of our esteemed colleagues. Attorney Datz of Cherry Hill, New Jersey,
born in 1948, passed away on August 25, 2017, of complications from cancer
at Abington Hospice at Warminster.
Attorney Datz was a stellar and dedicated personal injury attorney. He
began his career in 1969 when he graduated from Temple University School
of Law and started working as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia.
He eventually left the district attorney’s office, spending the next
four decades as a trial attorney and leader in the Philadelphia legal
community. He eventually joined the HGSK team, bringing a great deal of
insight and experience to the table. By the time he arrived at our firm,
he had been a delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s House
of Delegates since 1999. He has also received numerous awards and accolades
throughout his career, a testament to his skill and dedication to his clients.
According to Attorney Charles Schleifer, Attorney Datz was “well-liked
and well respected, a great listener and a true gentleman, with great
wit and intelligence. He cared greatly about his clients and always treated
employees and peers with warmth, gentleness, and respect. He was a pillar
of the legal community, and his smile and friendship will be sadly missed,
especially by his HGSK family.”
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey and Jonathan, and four grandchildren—Michael,
Henry, Jay, and Adele. He is also survived by his brother, Alan Datz of
Warrington. Attorney Datz was fond of a particular quote, which he used
on occasion, “Power is best exercised with humility and restraint.”
We believe his skill and experience as an attorney was always accompanied
with his own sense of humility and poise. He will be sorely missed by
his family, friends, and colleagues.
