On Friday, January 29, 2016, HGSK partner and Reading Managing Attorney
John Beichert addressed a group of community leaders at a Berks County
United Way “Blueprint for Leadership” breakfast. Mr. Beichert
discussed the value of community involvement and congratulated the recent
graduates of this valuable United Way program, which was designed in 2013
as a training opportunity for individuals representing the diversity of
The Blueprint for Leadership program strives to help participants develop
the skills needed to serve in a leadership role with a local nonprofit.
During the six-week training course, participants focus on communication
and leadership skills, roles and responsibilities of nonprofit committee
or board members, and nonprofit board governance. Participants are selected
on the basis of their professional experience, current community engagement
and/or related goals, and demonstrated leadership ability. After graduation
from the program, participants are placed on nonprofit boards, where they
directly assist organizations in improving performance and increasing
their impact on the community.
